Nordwall Instruments
instruments built by Mats Nordwall
Mats Nordwall has focused on building steel stringed guitars and folk musical instruments like mandolins, mandolas and citterns .
Inspired by Irish, American and Swedish folk music, he tries to make his instruments so that they are especially well customized for this type of music. The instruments shall be easily operated and clear but still with a distinct core in tone, and maintain the highest level, both in appearance and playing technically. All to satisfy the high requirements that musicians needs on their instruments.
Mats Nordwall received a journeyman's certificate and bachelor's degree in guitar making after three years of studying at the Carl Malmsten School in Stockholm. In the summer of 2013 , he also proudly received the certificate "master craftsman" of guitar making. He became the youngest swedish luthier ever receiving this.
He works full time repairing and building instruments. In the summer of 2012 his workshop was built on the beautiful island Ingmarsö, where he builds all his own instruments. Monday and Tuesday, he works at the musicstore Jam Guitars repair shop on Roslagsgatan 7, where he also displays his instruments.
